Review Summary
Users of Zillow: Homes For Sale & Rent are mixed in their opinions, with many expressing frustration over recent updates that have negatively impacted the app's usability, including issues with search filters, unsaved homes appearing in saved lists, excessive notifications, UI glitches, and the removal of useful features, though some still find the app's detailed filters and ability to stay updated on listings helpful.
Finding homes can be frustrating at times. Features seem to disappear with updates, I had a share system with my husband so when one of us saved a home, it would show up on the other's list. That is either gone or the option turned off and buried somewhere. I use both the app and website, but I don't love either.
Stop changing the app and making it visually worse. The listing page is terrible now with the giant heart, share, etc icons directly over the upper right corner/ top of the pics. Also, the blocked zestimate, year built, etc tiles of info below the listing address are equally loud and visually unappealing. ๐ Update 1.10.25- Newest update which changed the layout of the house listing and opening new "windows" when you click to expand info is needless. The layout was fine before.
It's okay. The app can be a little clunky and hard to navigate. I'm a little miffed that there's a renter profile, but not a buyer profile - all of my saved searches and saved homes are for homes or lots with more than 10 acres, so clearly I'm looking for acreage. And yet the vast majority of the "recommended homes" are houses on less than an acre of land, right in the center of town. Even after hiding DOZENS of these recommendations, I still get notifications for other similar properties. Ugh!
I had a great experience with this app. I think the filters work great and I was able to look in the area where I wanted to live and found exactly the right place at the right price. I am moving back to Arizona from Iowa in the middle of a cornfield. But I guess now since I found my new place I will delete the app. I think once a person finds what they need they no longer need the app. It works great!!!!!!!
I enjoy the easy to use detailed filters and search options. The only thing I wish was offered is when you save a home, it had a tab that would allow you sort them by their location (city/town). Mostly for those who are looking at states across the country. This option would allow users to see their homes saved, by city/town. Just an idea โบ๏ธ Other than that, I love the app.
What a frustrating app. I get repeat notifications for the same homes over and over again. And I get them from areas I'm not even looking. The only saved searches, saved homes, and save the markets are all in a different state. And why repeat notifications? If I tap on the notification to view the home and I'm not interested, why is the app unaware and why do I get another notification? Zillow is obviously using some type of machine learning in order to run this app. It's not going very well.
its really great I love the options and the accurate dates when an option is off the market. one thing i don't like though is when i look for a specific location and there aren't any it shows me options but from completely different locations. the locations aren't even close to what I searched up. something similar is that what I search up a location and I get options, there will be an option that says it's in a completely different location but knowing that specific house the location is wrong.
The most recent update is awful. There's a new section called Affordability Tools which is totally unnecessary, it was better the way it was before. To make it worse, in the Affordability Tools section, once you change your down payment amount, you can't reset it...and it's a fixed dollar value, you can't put a %. So if your down payment is set to $20k for a $100k home, it will calculate based on a $20k down for all homes. You have to manually change it EVERY time. I hate it.
Probably the most frustrating app I have. I can't possibly go through the list for 1 minute without it sliding back down to the map and resetting my listing. Imagine wanting to sift through the options and it constantly forces you back to the beginning every time. Horrible experience that I find is wholly unnecessary and would be an easy fix.
The recent app layout changes are not user-friendly. Half the screen is now taken up with options, so it's less efficient to scroll your saved listings and to see their statuses. Also, several saved listings that were outwardly showing as pending are now showing as active, but when you open them they are indeed still pending. This is really misleading and unfriendly to the consumer.
