Review Summary
Overall, users express a significant level of dissatisfaction with the eero app due to frequent functionality issues, unintuitive UI changes, excessive paywalls for basic features, unreliable performance, and poor support for troubleshooting and managing network settings.
Just tested the latest version for pausing/unpausing profiles. Just straight up doesn't work now. Do you test apps before you release updates?? I hate to have to rip out functional hardware because the software teams decided to make the app non functional. I might have to take that step though. Prior review: Don't like UI changes. I use Eero to pause/resume profiles frequently and the UI for this is a huge step backwards with no positives to make up for it. Who decided to change this?!
Developer response:
Hi Joe, Thanks for the feedback. We would like to make sure that feature is working correctly. Please send us an email Subject: "Android Followup - pause/unpause profiles" so we can take a look. I will also forward your information about the UI changes. Thanks again.
The base product is a hook to try to get you to pay for more features via the app. If you have any technical skills at all stay away. There's no web interface on their mesh system, you have to use this app. You can only setup a single primary wifi and guest network. There's no way to separate 2.4/5/6 GHz radio bands without paying more. There's no way to tell if the other nodes are in a good spot. Purchase Asus routers or step up to Unifi/TP-Link Omada.
Application and hardware works great. Everything is simple and easy to use with no issues so far. Speeds are great. But... I didn't realize when buying this that some standard features like "Content Filtering" would be behind a $10 a month paywall. These are free options in routers I had for the past 10 years. Keeping kids away from content shouldn't be limited. Now the app was updated to make sure the premium features take more space on the screen.
Great app for use with my wifi extenders! I can see who and what is connected to each eero. What their signal strength is and who is offline. The app could use some help IDing the devices, But, I just compared the MAC addresses and renamed them. Devices that randomize their MAC address must have that turned off for the names to stick. This is all needed to keep tabs on my network.
Please stop moving buttons and settings around on your app. I can't find anything anywhere including the reboot button. Re-editing this post after a while. Eero is still horrible. The reply to this review is not accurate of where the reboot is. You have changed the location once more. I followed your instructions and now its changed to "add network" that is not the reboot button at all... Please stop moving buttons around.
Developer response:
HI There, Thanks for your review. We do have that option, we just moved it to the network settings-> At the top right hand corner tap the "..." and you should see Restart network and Delete Network. Sorry for any confusion. I have escalated your concerns to our team. Please let us know if you have anymore questions. Thanks again.
Use this app if you want it to lie to you about your speeds. You'll be sitting there trying to load a 360p YouTube video with endless buffering then hop on this app to run a speed test only to see it says the speeds are higher than what I'm paying for. First of all my speeds shouldn't be that high, ever, to begin with. Second of all if my connection is so good then why is the entire tell us more section loading nonstop

I wanted to rate this 4.5 stars. The app is pretty intuitive, and the router is easy to setup. At some point, however, the app UI got more streamlined and gave less information. I liked how the app previously told me what connection type each device was using (WiFi 5, Wifi 6, 6E, etc - 2.4Ghz, 5GHz), but that information is no longer given.
App seems to have become more stable over time, but still has some major drawbacks: - Network updates are forced (you cannot choose when they install) and they interrupt your internet connection. Even wired devices are interrupted. - When the app first loads and you try to touch a setting, the app quickly shifts the settings around so you press something you didn't intend to. - The ability to pause groups was changed so now it takes 2 touches, much less convenient than it previously was.
Developer response:
Hi There! Thanks for your review. So to set the update schedule window goto eero app>settings>Software Version>Preferred update time and set it to what would be more convenient. As for our UI changes, thanks for your feedback I will lift that up as a feature request. If you need any help email us at [email protected] Subject: "Android Followup - UI"
It works good for now, we will see how this statment ages with time though. There are a plethora of ways to configure these devices in conjuction with your modem or modem/router combo. I would advise anyone looking to diy there setup to read up on them, or watch a youtube video on them so you can find the the configuration that best meets your needs. It is totally different than setting up an old router and I could see how it could probably be confusing at times if your not a tech savy person.
Good app. However, too many things are behind a paywall. For instance, I have recently noticed that the device list no longer shows whether a device is connected to either 2.4ghz or 5ghz anymore, instead just which eero it is connected to. Please re-add this back as it was standard feature and not as a fee-based option. Thanks!
