Review Summary
People generally do not like the Tuya Smart app, as it frequently faces connectivity issues, demands unnecessary permissions, provides poor customer service, sends excessive or false alarms, and often experiences bugs and problems with device integration and functionality.
If the power gets knocked out the camera goes offline and will not reconnect. I have to forget it and reset it up all again. It would be nice if the app had a refresh or reconnect inside that app so I don't have to keep doing this. When the camera is online it works really well. Once it's set back up it's not long before it stops working again.
only reason it's less than five stars is that this app is only one of I think at least four other apps. they all work with the same products however the accounts are not connected and so before I understood all of this I have different devices set up on different apps and so the controls are only available for each device on each app the only saving grace is Google home which allows me to connect it all together without having to ReDiscover the devices on one app. need consolidation into 1 app.
The app refuses to run without precise location permissions, which is not needed for any feature I use. This is only required for spyware features that I absolutely don't want. The app won't even allow general location, which is all that would be needed to access local weather information, and just disabling a feature under this circumstance is what non-spyware apps do. This is absolutely unacceptable and I will have to return the product that uses this app.
The app sends a false alarm every 6 days. I pay a fee for a set number of warnings when my sump is over full. The false alarms use up that fee quickly, with no real need for the false warning. There should be a way to turn off the false alarms, or at least change the interval at which the alarm is sent. Seems like a way for Tuya to use up my fee and cause me to have to pay more for false alarms. I need to find a different app that doesn't send useless false alarms to me.

My lights work great in the app. I bought the lights to work with Alexa. when they are linked together, there is a loss of functionality. I can't get all the lights to strobe with music. I can only get one to strobe and the rest have to be set on a particular color. I would like to be able to strobe all the lights at once with a single command. How do I do that?!?
Yay! Grid view finally restored 👍 but from latest update all Smart PLUGS have stopped connecting (they're from different manufacturers and are unlikely to have all gone at the same time) all lightbulbs still connecting, but hoping for a plug fix ASAP 😪 it seems like the permission to connect to wi-fi devices has gone AWOL, it's only connecting to Bluetooth devices.

Using it to charge car with vevor charger. When the charging has ended the charge log never end and stuck there for hours until i either disconnect plug which is many hours later or start another charge cycle manually which is messing up log time because now it record wrong time it took to charge. Also even with scene it does follow if condition like energy less than any values. Now even more bugs. You cannot see history the scrolling to view past 1 day is no longer scrolling suddenly.
seems to work for the most part for our electric fireplace, sometimes the app does not want to connect remotely though which has the potential to be a big issue. and when it seems to be connected remotely, sometimes it will only allow power on or off, with temperature adjustments quickly reverting instead of taking.
Absolutely terrible service. Anything Tuya disconnects from Home Assistant every day. When connected they do not respond to On/Off or color changes. The app is only part of the problem but not much help since we also experience the same issues through Alexa, Google, and Home Assistant. CLEARLY this problem exists AT TUYA and is not an issue with my phone or the app on my phone.

This app wants to do a lot but can't even do that most simple thing correctly. Connected to automatic cat litter box. Box is stuck, but there's no notification. If you have the box tucked away, which is what most people do, you won't know working is wrong until smell cat urine. Terrible app.
