Review Summary
Most users do not like the FordPass™ app, citing its inconsistent performance, frequent updates removing useful features, connectivity issues, and problems with 'Phone as a Key' and remote start functionality.
Mach e driver here. App is okay and some features work great. However phone as a key isn't working so it's difficult to share the vehicle with my wife. Unlike our other ev, there isn't a way to precondition cabin and battery for a single departure, just on a schedule. This is annoying for planning trips when you need it most instead of for commutes when preconditioning is less essential. And the "MyTrips" feature no longer exists, which again helps with battery preconditioning on longer trips.
Update 1/2025. Way better. Lots of improvements. Now works all the time and opens faster. Shows the fuel % and range at the top of the app, super useful. Also provides tire pressure info, oil change info, etc. Very nice app now! Old review: Finicky at best. Sometimes works, sometimes not. Now opens up with a "not responding" warning that usually goes away. The remote start sometimes takes a dozen tries to get the car to start, and at that point I can just be in the car to start it.
I used to like this app, but Ford updated it recently and really took a chainsaw to it. It is simple though I now have to click more buttons to find the trunk button. For ev drivers like me instead of improving the route planning, Ford just got rid of if it. That actually makes that harder. Also, it's really hard to extend the climate for 15 more minutes. Not great. Update: some things are faster, but still not as good as the old app.
A completely pointless app at this point. I hope you aren't downloading this to remote start your vehicle in the winter. Because if the temperature gets below 32 degrees you won't be able to do anything since your vehicle will be in "power saving mode" and you'll need to drive it to reconnect. But here's the thing, no amount of driving will actually do that. Did you drive it last night and want to start it for your morning commute, too bad, power saving mode.
Pretty much the only thing I use this app for is the phone as a key. Phone as a key has completely stopped communicating with my Mach e since the most recent update. I've tried all of the trouble shooting and it still will not connect with my car which makes this app completely useless. I also can not connect my ford pro charger to this app after following all of the setup instructions. Looking at the other reviews you guys have some work to do.
Glitchy. thankfully its free right now. Sometimes cant locate the vehicle for hours. I had an alert for something triggering the alarm but it didnt push so I didnt see it for many days later. When the trial period runs out its unlikely I'd pay for it if the bugs aren't worked out. Very frustrating. 01/11/2025- Still glitchy
If you look almost all the five star reviews are over a year or two old. A super slow lazy app that almost never works. I can't really control how my car has the heat settings or anything from the app. If I want to remotely start it. The fact I need to have Wi-Fi makes this almost completely useless as my Wi-Fi does not go all the way into my garage Lolo in my driveway. Also, when I turn off my car and open the door the Bluetooth still stays on for 30 minutes. This app and car sucks
*Nov 7 24: Logged me out for an update that was supposed to include smart watch features which aren't there. Dropped a star.* functionality is great, but it's slower than a snail's sneeze. I can open the app as I step away from my work station and it'll finally load as I get to my truck. So not a great replacement for the key based remote start. The scheduled starts are amazing. Great way to keep up with the maintenance too. Would like to see a maintenance countdown that the owner can set.
App used to be good. But the update they did this year is horrible. No longer able to see your Ford ESP plan. Can't add service history anymore. Trying to find what your looking for is no longer intuitive, takes forever going in circles before you find the menu your looking for (that is, if they didn't remove it). Just revert it back to the older version please and try again!
UPDATE: App recently forced me to update, saying my older version was no longer supported. Ford did a good job with quickly patcthing the initial garbage re-release but it's still missing features, in particular Zone Lighting, a big one for me. Like everyone else is saying, a whole ton of useful features were stripped away from this new version. It looks better. And it runs smoother. But you can barely do anything with it now so there's no point. Using an older version till they fix this.
