Review Summary
Users generally dislike the Ring - Always Home app due to frequent glitches, poor performance after updates, unreliable notifications, and paywall feature restrictions, which have led many to consider switching to alternative security systems.
App is super glitchy. When you delete a video, instead of going to the previous video or the next video, it jumps to the very beginning of that day. If you delete another video, it jumps to the beginning of the PREVIOUS day. I then have to go through an entire day's worth of videos to get caught up to current again. Hate this app and only use it because I don't have a choice. Considering switching to a different video doorbell altogether just because of the horrible user interface.
12/15/24 Update: Since the latest update, the app has had major glitches, plus I'm having to re-connect it to my wifi multiple times per day. Many times, it won't reconnect and will be "offline" for days. Additionally, features we previously had with the "Home Basic" subscription are no longer available unless you upgrade plans to a much higher price point. Absolutely ridiculous and extremely disappointing.

Hi Kris. I understand the frustration this can cause. For assistance, feel free to send us a private message on Facebook @Ring or visit community.ring.com. Thank you for this feedback.
How inexperienced are the developers of this app?? They remove the icon with the number of new alerts for cameras on the main screen then they add just a blue dot. Are they really that out of touch to think users don't want to see HOW MANY alerts there were and not just a blue dot to indicate there was motion??? Bring back the most important feature that has the number so u can see if it's something important happening that has a lot of motion with the snapshot!!!
UPDATE 01/06/25: My Ring had been showing offline for three days. I kept uninstalling and installing the app, or just signing off and back on. Nothing worked. Then I unplugged my router/modem for a couple of minutes. The modem reset itself. Signed back onto the app and the Ring was back to online status... So, try to reset your modem and see if that helps. Still give this app two stars. 2021 review I reported app issues as well, but at that time the resolution was different.
The app is generally good, but has a few flaws. First, the dashboard sometimes shows old thumbnails and there's no obvious way to refresh them. Even viewing the camera live doesn't update the thumbnail. Add a way to update the thumbnail. UPDATE: They've fixed most old problems, but they've added a What's New feature that keeps showing me information about Privacy Zones (which aren't "new"). I'll read the item, delete/close it, confirm it's gone -- and it comes back minutes later. 🙄

Hi Steve, we know it's discouraging when things don't work as expected. Our team is working to resolve an issue causing the Camera Previews to not update properly. In the meantime, try clearing the Ring app cache and data in your phone's settings. We appreciate your patience as our team works on a solution.
It was working well-in the beginning like 2 years ago, but now there's glitches in not recording all human events within designated zones. The app seems to be glitching as well because I've reinstalled it twice to fix the "your mobile has no internet" issue that seems to wipe the homepage of cameras and alarms. Overall impression- meh. Seems like a lot of other people are generally dissatisfied as well. Update-Dec 4. I don't like this new update. It's clunky. Wish they revert back
For the most part RING has been a good security/camera system. The new updates made the RING app so much better. So when this new update came out, myself & lots others here in the reviews we're thinking it was going to be great. RING might as well built a time machine to go back to 2019. They removed so many features & Geo fencing isn't recognizing me anymore. I also upgraded my yearly subscription so I'm paying twice more for 24/7 recording, but the app did not update to this new 24/7 feature.
I have been a dedicated user of a Ring account for several years. However, after the recent update, my Ring Doorbell Plus will not reconnect to WiFi after charging. Despite my troubleshooting efforts, I have been unable to resolve the issue. Given my limited experience with this version, I am considering not purchasing the company’s products.
Developer response:
Hi Theresa, thanks for reaching out. Please try uninstalling the Ring app, and downloading the available version from the app store. If you have a VPN on your phone, make sure it is turned when accessing the Ring app. Should this issue persist after trying these steps, please follow up with us on Facebook @Ring. We're happy to help!
It would be great if the most important camera in my house didn't fail to load the live view half the time. Also, for whatever reason, the cameras will only connect to 1 of the 2 wifi networks I have but it's the network that constantly goes down. So I can't even have reliable video coverage bc the cameras won't to connect to the other (stable) network.
Overall this camera does what it says. We haven't had problems with it missing people directly on our porch. However there are so many missed events, the notifications are very delayed, and the camera quality is pretty poor when zooming in especially. It misses things that aren't that far away like a car pulling into the end of my driveway and doesnt notify us until a minute after the doorbell rings. Overall, good not great and we're looking for other options.
