Review Summary
Overall, people have mixed feelings about the Kasa Smart app, with some users finding it reliable and easy to use, while others experience frequent connectivity issues, problems after updates, and missing functionalities.
One of those apps that puts ads in the in-app notifications constantly. Also, smart actions can't be triggered with electrical sensor readings. For example, can't automate having a port on a smart strip turn on when another senses wattage is now over 5w. Pretty bare bones. The KP125M "Power" tab doesn't update in real time. Bit of a shame to lose that functionality the older smart plugs have.

First impression; great device the smart plug keeps the connection; 18 months later, still works great! No issues, reliable connect, even when hidden behind a dresser. The schedule & timer functionalities are great to have. Being able to turn the LED status light off is great for a very dark bedroom or distraction free holiday lights!! Excellent 👍
I do like this plug and how I can set certain times when it turns on or off. However, lately it's been giving me trouble when I try and turn the light on or off myself through the app or widget. It will tell me I'm not connected to wifi when I am. I will trouble shoot only for it to still give me the same message. It's annoying when my Wi-Fi is working fine and this app does not have an update or refresh option. I have to factory reset. Please fix.

Don’t hesitate to contact technical support for assistance if you have any questions or encounter any problems while using the Tapo/Kasa smart devices. https://www.tp-link.com/support/contact-technical-support/
Video quality is pretty good. Video can be saved to local microSD and retrieved later without any subscription. Alerts for person and motion detection works as supposed to. Chime sounds nice and loud enough. Great doorbell camera for the price. I like it. Video is continuously recorded to microSD, but if there is an option in the app for you to save only event-triggered video clips, it'll be perfect.
Why do we have to uninstall the app and then reinstall it to make things work for a little bit? Heard of testing before deployment? Old: Wow! This was great and now everything Kasa is trash! Things worked fine and now they don't. Things even disappear and reappear in the app though they are still connected! They aren't even in the room tab anymore. Worse, 3 kasa plugs are now dead. I guess you bricked them with your last update. No excuses! Why does Wyse still work and you don't.

Hi, we are sorry for the trouble. We need more information about the problem you mentioned to solve it, can you share a relevant screenshot or video clip with us via [email protected] with a copy of your review? We'd be happy to look into that and sort it out soon. Thank you, and looking forward to hearing from you!
I have the LB120 bulbs and I always have to reconnect them after a power outage. The worst part is that even if they're off at the time, they turn on when the power is restored. My LIFX bulbs have a feature to remember the power state, and also don't have to be reconnected every time the power goes out. I have never had to reconnect the LIFX bulbs. The app looks out dated and is in need of a dark mode and the widget often doesn't work. Terrible app and product.
The app worked well until the most recent update. In the camera tab, you can have multiple cameras playing, allowing you to keep an eye on pets, and if you wanted to switch to a singular camera, you could from the same tab. Now, the speaker button and manage button are removed from each camera view in the camera tab. Also, when in the camera tab,you can only watch for 5 minutes before the feed freezes again. But just hitting play doesn't always work. I have to exit the app and open it again.
It works ok, but it gets real stupid trying to reconnect after a power outage or loses connection for no apparent damn reason. Having to go "back to the drawing board" every time this happens isn't smart. Its pure B.S. What if you were on vacation, or away from work? You would be leaving your home completely vulnerable, unprotected, and inaccessible. This should've been the very first thing TP-Link should've taken care of. It's TP-LINK for crying out loud! Shame!
I’ve been very happy with the Kasa Smart app overall. The interface is intuitive, and connecting and managing devices is simple. Firmware updates are seamless, which is a big plus. However, I have one major complaint: there’s no option to mass delete videos. The most I’ve been able to remove at once is 10, which feels unnecessarily tedious. This feature should be simple to implement and would significantly improve the user experience. Once this is addressed, it’ll be a 5-star app for sure.
I have a Kasa Smart Plug Power Strip HS300 While the app is close to perfect, I hope there will an Option to Reset (Energy Monitoring) for each Outlet/Plug. As of Dec16,24 there're option to Re-arrange & Re-name Plug. But there isn't option to reset it when I have stopped using the outlet for the same purpose or electronics. Having this functionality will help provide even more convenient and peace of while, as well as adding value to the outlets!
