Reviews Summary
People generally dislike the Fandango at Home app, expressing frustration over its poor functionality, frequent glitches, issues with keeping track of viewing progress, and numerous bugs that have emerged since its transition from Vudu.
One of my favorite shows of is on here and for FREE (with ads). I personally don't mind ads at all, so this should be an easy 5 star review, except the app is so awful that I won't be finishing the show. It doesn't keep progress, and sometimes the video randomly exits when you're in the middle of an episode. These scenarios force you to track down the show using their terrible search, then guess the episode you were on, and finally TRY find your place again which makes you watch ads a few times!
How do I hate you... Let me count the ways! No picture in picture. I like to have a small screen so I can do something else on my phone like Netflix does. Can't change playback speed like Netflix. It doesn't keep your place where you left off in a series like Netflix does. I bought so many movies and series when it was Vudu and I am stuck with this app. Please steal ideas from Netflix and improve this app!
Fandango, fix your app. This is ridiculous. The app will be open on my tablet, I pause to go do something, come back 20 minutes later logged out and my place was lost. This is unacceptable. Vudu never had these issues. And I shouldn't have to login every time I use the app. In fact, most apps like it let you stay logged in indefinitely or every few months at minimum. Seriously, fix yourself.
I loved this when it was Vudu. Since it's changed to Fandango it's been glitchy. The app doesn't work on my TV, I can't "resume watching" anything, and if I want to watch it on my TV I have to cast it from my phone. Sometimes even that doesn't work. I have a very extensive library in Vudu that took me years to build and I can hardly access it. Fix your issues please.
After update I can no longer download the movies I purchased in HDX. The only option is SD, even for movies I have in UHD. There is no longer an option in the app to choose the quality you want to download either. I have a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, so it shouldn't be a problem with having an out of date device. I travel a lot and thus I download a lot of my titles for offline watching. Not having HDX quality is completely unacceptable!
Awful app. Why you would make it so difficult to purchase movies when that's the business you're in is beyond me. I have changed my email address to not use my work email, but rather my personal one, and yet you still try to use my work email when I attempt to make a purchase. Also, I am using the correct password for my account, but you're telling me it's wrong when I know it's right. So I click forgot password to have a link sent to reset it, and I never get the email. Unreal.
When it was Vudu things were pretty smooth, but the app has not worked smoothly or at all over the last few weeks. I installed the app on my Amazon TV and sometimes my menu and library don't show up at all, so I have to exit and try again, often multiple times. I had the Vudu app on my Kindle fire tablet and it worked well and consistently, but now the Fandango at home app is not available. I am able to access my content by logging on through the web, but the videos don't play. Frustrating.
The original VUDU ran much better than the new Fandango. Half the time it does not present my movies in progress so I could continue where I left off. Today I go into the app and again my movies in progress did not show up. To make matters worse I select my movie from my own purchased selection and I can't play it! However it did present the option to buy it. Come on Fandango, you can do better than this. Its like you don't even care about the app. I have been w/ VUDU for many years. DO BETTER!!
The application always defaults to Custom order and never remembers the previous order - I prefer to sort my movies by release date. this is true for Android and FireTV. Movies Anywhere does not have this issue. Additionally, customer service is horrible. You repeat yourself over and over, until you are so frustrated that you close the service request. Also, some movies are missing release date and don't sort properly. This is not an issue with Movies Anywhere. Fandango is work in progress
Really terrible app. It doesn't remember where I last left off a movie, often crashes after the 2+ minutes of ads, and overall doesn't even come close to functioning like any of the other major streaming apps. For example, there is no minimizing/picture in picture. I have only tried to watch one movie on this app and starting it over every time there's an ad or i click off screen and therefore watching double the amount of ads is decidedly NOT worth it.
