The Roku App (Official)

Update: 4 stars to 2 because it doesn't accept login info! I can log into devices and the web site, but the app doesn't work which limits functionality. A great remote control app with multiple options to select a channel or show to start watching, or work as a normal remote control. The good news is that this app will let you use your phone keyboard for searches or passwords instead of an on-screen keyboard, but the bad news is that apps on the Roku appear to be allowed not to let you.

This app is trash. It just gets worse with every update. The Roku Remote app has been on a steady nosedive for a white now... Recently: Inefficiently programmed (probably using "web tech"). Rapidly drains the phone's battery. Horrible and unnecessary GUI changes. Very slow and chunky. Unresponsive while it loads ads. Thinks it is often connected to a different Roku device than the one it is controlling. The headphones feature now works for a maximum of five minutes before disconnecting. -1 stars

It was pretty good except it isn't working now. It worked for a while, and now when I try to watch something it just says "something went wrong during playback, please try again later". This happens on all things I try to watch and it has done this for days. Hopefully the app works again because other than that it's an easy 5 star. It's not a wifi problem.... Guys, it's been months, and nobody I have talked to knows the problem. And I have gotten no reply here. I cannot use your app.

Great streaming service. All the streaming apps conveniently located on one device but you could easily access from anywhere with a Roku account. If you ever lose remote, the app has you covered! Never had any down time either. Definitely easy to use and you can customize it. Live TV is an option too. Recommended!!!

The latest update has completely ruined the app. I constantly have to force stop and restart it just to control my TV. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and clearing the cache. Nothing helps. And it's not just my phone. The app is just as bad on my wife and children's phones. Don't even get me started on the terrible slide up thing that gets in the way every time I want to change the TV volume so they can pepper me with ads. This app is 1000x worse than it was just a month (or so) ago

Issues watching on your mobile device. Will go through part of a show and after the commercial break will start from the beginning. If you try to fast forward to resume where you left off, you have to go through the commercials again and it still takes you right back to the beginning. Have tried restarting/reinstalling the app but the same thing happens.

Private Listening NEVER works. It used to be great but it never works now. Audio CONSTANTLY cuts out every 2 seconds. It's awful. This is a super common complaint by many roku users yet they will tell you to check your wifi connection. My network is flawless and I've done every possible troubleshooting step to fix it to no avail. This feature is the main reason we are roku customers. If the app worked it would be fantastic. Sadly, they refuse to admit they have faulty hardware and software.

The ads on the app remote is really disruptive and discourages me from using it. The ads have consistently become larger, more intrusive and bloated as time goes by, to the point of near uselessness. At this point in time I only use it if the remote has become displaced versus how I used to love using it regularly. The app is no longer user friendly.

I love the app. WHEN IT'S WORKING! The remote kicks off of the device in using it on more than half of the time, then it can't reconnect to the device it was literally just connected to. I am CONSTANTLY deleting the app and then redownloading just so it will connect back to the device. I'm going to try a different app

This remote is great but sometimes i have trouble searching for my devices to connect my phone to my tv. So i uninstalled the app and installed it again and that didnt work..so i then figured out that if i go to settings on my roku tv, go to system, then click on system restart and it worked! I have an android phone(galaxy S20 FE) and many times the remote wont connect but i think i got it figured out. My phone is big and i love how big the remote is on my phone. It does work really good!
