People love the content on Dropout due to its variety and high quality, but the app itself has some technical issues like playback bugs, inconsistent "resume" features, and casting problems.
Eta: They fixed it! I really love the content; I've used it for 2 years with no problems but as of yesterday it's so slow to load it never actually even gets to the content. Non-functional. I'm so sad! I listen every day! I've been using the browser version, but it's not as good. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, deleting data and cookies, updating, restarting my phone. Nothing helps. I saw a reddit user with the same problem from 6 months ago on android. I hope someone can help fix it!
The best app for entertainment. I love that it's got playback speed controls. Dropout TV is a worthwhile producer of funny content and I am happily subscribed to help keep them making videos. I live for Dimension 20, Make Some Noise, and Game Changer. I look forward to every new episode. Dropout keeps drawing the best performances out of their teammates with every video. There is thought provoking social commentary, outrageous antics, and deep introspection in this comedy!
Have encountered a few bugs here and there, specifically in regards to screen orientation (though there's been a recent update and I haven't had a chance to see if that was resolved), and I also wish it were easier to navigate to a series homepage through the search bar, but the quality of the streaming content is top tier, and none of that is really all that negative. The only thing I really wish was that there were a way to more easily cast to my smart TV so I could watch on a bigger screen.
Excellent content, but the app and website could use some polish. The continue watching tab updates to show episodes I have long since finished, and never updates to contain things I'm currently watching and want to get back to. After the latest update videos no longer play at all on the app even after logging out and back in. So while content remains great, the app itself isn't very well made to do the one thing it's supposed to do.
Absolutely in love with Dropout. Great options to pick from and the app does its job. Occasional issues here and there but not enough for me to be overly affected. (It's better than the Xbox app, that's for sure :P). Can't say enough good things about Dropout so I hope you download and subscribe to enjoy them too!
The only subscription service I have and do not hate! The app itself has a great interface and functionality. I also watch it on my TV, and the TV app syncs pretty well with my mobile activity. Great content, easier to navigate than Patreon, and I don't have to curse my money when I pay like I do with Prime (Bezos *will* choke on *my* dollar, specifically). Get it, you'll love it.
Love the content! The "resume" feature would be more useful if it grouped whole series together, rather than individual episodes. And maybe this is more of a Chromecast problem, but videos will often keep playing on my phone even when I stop playback on my TV. It would also be nice if the app kept my captions turned on so I don't have to click that seeing every time. Overall, hilarious and entertaining stuff. Great value, especially for the price.
The content is top notch. 5 stars really. The app itself is the only reason I rate 2 stars. Being able to play sound with the screen off is good but Bluetooth controls are non existent and it should pause when disconnected. The popout window does not scale well. The progress bar along the bottom of screen is too close to the bottom and a few stability issues.
The platform, the talent, the sense of community, is so fantastic and keeps me coming back day after day; that's dropout. But the app!? My goodness does it punch above its weight class. The menu options and video playback optimization are top tier, both for mobile and for streaming devices like roku. The quality of this platform, in technical detail, surpasses the quality seen in major streaming services like peacock and paramount, and is second only to something like Netflix.
I have seen clips of dropout on YouTube and such for quite a while and always wondered what else was on there. Honestly I've been blown away with the amount of amazing content on here. Every show that I end up watching ends up being worth it whether it's the chaos and great energy that comes from Game changers, the amazing show tunes and improv from play it by ear, or the goofiness that comes from Make some noise. I cannot recommend this enough.
